Follow the Mont-sur-Rolle grape variety trail and taste some wines at the Domaine de Beau-Soleil. Thierry Durand will only be too happy to talk about his wines with you and help you discover the winery with its huge oak barrels.
A huge courtyard, a splendid chestnut tree, a large reception room and an original “carnotzet” (cellar bar) are some of the attractive features of the Domaine de Beau-Soleil in Mont-sur-Rolle.
After a professional experience in New Zealand, Thierry returned to the family estate to re-join his father and began to diversify the grape varieties. “I think I was one of the first to produce Savagnin and Merlot in the region”. For 20 years, Thierry Durand and his wife Anne-Christine have been running the family estate, whose wines are regularly awarded with the OR Terravin label, a quality label for Vaud wines.
Thierry Durand’s favourite wines from the Domaine de Beau-Soleil in Mont-sur-Rolle
A glass of Savagnin accompanying some oysters and seafood; with a little imagination, it’s like being on holiday…
A touch of “Gewürz” and its aromas of rose and lychee. Vinified dry or sometimes medium-sweet, it can be drunk as an aperitif or with foie gras terrine or even pan-fried.
Chasselas is a must for a good aperitif! But, to taste an older vintage with a Gruyère cheese is a wonderful experience… Thierry tells us with eyes full of mischief!
The Darling, a sweet wine, is a tribute to his parents. He will gladly tell you his story.
Thierry also lets us into a little secret: his 2017 Merlot will be excellent!
