Romain Haglon, Francine Gabella and Patrick Fonjallaz welcome you to Clos de la République in Epesses. The estate is made up of 35 hectares of vineyards stretching from Epesses, Calamin, Dézaley to Saint-Saphorin and the Château du Châtelard vineyard in Montreux.

The estate dates back to the late 16th century. It is currently run by the 13th generation, making it one of the oldest family-owned businesses in Switzerland.

In the oldest cellar of the winery, you will discover the 7,000-litre tuns which surround one of the most important tuns of the canton, containing 32,000 litres and is decorated with sculptures inspired by Roman mythology.

On the walls, there is a gallery of portraits of famous people who have visited the winery and enjoyed the wines of the estate, such as: Charlie Chaplin, Michel Houellebecq (Goncourt Award 2010), Charles Duke (10th astronaut to walk on the moon), amongst others.

 

A few words about the domain

In addition to Chasselas, which is a renowned white wine, Viognier, Sauvignon and Chardonnay are also produced. And for the reds, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Garanoir, Plant Robert. Just to note, the average age of the vines is 28 years old.

All the wines presented proudly bear the Terravin label, a guarantee of quality attributed to just over 6% of the Vaud harvest.

Welcome to the estate Au Clos de la République in Epesses

You will receive a warm and friendly welcome when you visit the estate where the hosts can organise seminars, work sessions, meals, aperitifs, tastings and visits of the winery, weddings, birthdays and all other celebrations.

Visitors are received individually or in groups up to 150 people (and more), either in the indoor reception area or outdoors, on a terrace with its breathtaking and unforgettable views.

 

In and around

You can stroll on the trails that serve the prestigious appellations, or if you are feeling tired why not use the train…

You can also eat at the Auberge du Vigneron, 20 metres away, whose terrace also allows you to enjoy the exceptional countryside.

You can sleep at the Lavaux Hotel, 400 metres away, that can be reached without having to drive.
